So in 1999 we had the Matrix and we got this movie. Crazy coincidence? It's almost too good to be true. But you can also be sure that this did not try to steal anything from the other movie. So yes reality may have been in question (considering the looming doom and possibility of Y2K this makes even more sense), but making movies has not.The story and the criticism on society and a look inside our self or what we perceive to be "us" ... there are some wonderful ideas and I reckon the ending is quite nice. But overall this might leave you not as engaged as it would like you to be. Strange Days is another example that did a better job. This is nitpicking, because this is a really good thriller - I just don't think it is exceptional or rather has unexplored potential (maybe could have done with a more charismatic lead too)
